Rockolo Launches New Cloud Services

Rockolo today announced the launch of Gibraltar’s first locally-hosted cloud computing solution, supporting a variety of online business solutions including data backup, disaster recovery and business continuity.
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services such as servers, storage, databases, backup, networking, software and more over the Internet (“cloud”) services. The company will roll out two services as part of its cloud services – cloud computing and long-term data backup.
At a press conference held at Gibtelecom’s head offices in John Macktintosh Square, Rockolo says it has had significant interest from public and private companies, and already has a group of companies who will start using the system as from July onwards to test the system.
Tim Bristow, the Chairman of Rockolo, said: “This should bring many benefits to consumers, such as reduced hardware, software and running costs, speed of deployment, greater flexibility and enhanced productivity.”
The new service was launched in partnership with GiBVault, a specialist provider of cloud computing and online data backup platforms that is affiliated with SIRE Technology Ltd of the UK.
Chairman Barry Kiddell said his company is “delighted to be bringing their technology to an ecommerce hub like Gibraltar and to be partnering with a company in the Gibtelecom group”.

Mr Hook adds that clients will be secure knowing the date is stored in Gibraltar, either at Mount Pleasant or the World Trade Centre, but like other companies, Rockolo hopes to offer its services internationally.
